Not my favorite of the McCarthy novels but it made for a much better movie than I thought it would. So much of McCarthy is journey not destination and then you have the pinnacle of that in this movie, and despite the “and then this happened” nature, the father-son life metaphor comes across more poignantly when you strip away everything from the world but survival. A little melodramatic, tho.
